Our Projects
Bungoma Health Link Forum
Born from a shared vision to bring community mental health care to Bungoma County, we partnered with Kenyan leaders to build a center that would address the community's needs.

Inspired by discussions at the Healthier, Longer Lives conference in 2018, BHLF officially launched in January 2024. With over 200 members and 30 to 40 daily attendees, BHLF is thriving, with increasing pressure to expand.

Purposeful Work
Members participate in the work-ordered day, supporting each other in tasks like cleaning, gardening, landscaping, and cooking. This environment is grounded in recognizing strengths, congratulating success, and offering support. In the process, members cultivate a sense of purpose and belonging. They learn that their diagnosis does not define them or the value they bring to the group.
Peer Collaboration
Staff and members alike recognize peers' strengths, congratulate successes, and offer support. This collaboration cultivates a sense of purpose and belonging, reminding members that their diagnosis doesn't define them or the value they bring to the group.

Backed by Research
Rooted in the evidence-based Fountain House model, BHLF cultivates a positive culture of reciprocity and self-efficacy, promoting recovery in people living with mental illness.
